Personality characteristics as a function of circumstances of divorce
This study provides a description of the personality characteristics of custody evaluation participants, based on the Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory - Second Edition (MMPI-2) and Millon Clinical Multiaxial Inventory - Second/Third Edition (MCMI-II/III). The group was then divided by gender, initiator status, and time of evaluation (divorce or post divorce). Results were consistent with previous research with custody evaluation participants, which has found that Scale K is the highest mean validity scale on the MMPI-2, Scales 3, Scale 4, and Scale 6 are the highest mean clinical scales on the MMPI-2, and Scale Y is the highest mean validity scale on the MCMI-III. The same scales continued to be the highest when the group was subdivided into the above mentioned categories. The MMPI-2 was able to differentiate among the groups with fair accuracy, while the MCMI-II and MCMI-III were able to distinguish the groups with high accuracy.
