Computer-Based Assessment With the MMPI-2(from the chapter) In this chapter, we attempt to answer the following questions through discussion of the computer-based MMPI-2: How can one maximize the advantages and evaluate the potential problems for a computer-based system? What features make the utilization of such systems most beneficial? First, we describe the history of the computerized MMPI and MMPI-2. Then, the summary of research on equivalence of the computer-based and paper-and-pencil reports is followed by discussion of new developments in the computer-based administration of the MMPI-2. Next, a practical case example is described. We conclude this chapter with a list of suggestions on how to incorporate computer-based MMPI-2 data with other sources of information about the client.
