Erickson captivates birding enthusiasts during program at library
Nationally-known bird expert Laura Erickson captivated a crowd of fellow bird watchers with her personal stories, endless knowledge, humor and bird calls while presenting her new book, "Twelve Owls," a guide to native owls in Minnesota.
Erickson spoke to those who packed the Minocqua Public Library conference room to the point that parking was difficult to find and extra chairs were needed. The room was so full that people stood outside the conference room looking through the windows to hear what Erickson had to say and to see her presentation.
"I wanted to see in person the person I've heard on WXPR so many times. She's just great," Richard Gsell, bird enthusiast, said.
Erickson has moved her fans with her fierce passion for her feathered friends.
"She has such an aura about her. To me, she's like a mother earth mama," Janet Alesauskas said when describing Erickson.
