Slingshot Global Media and producer Tomas Backstrom have cut a deal to develop a crime drama based on Vidar Sundstol's "Minnesota Trilogy," the entertainment trade magazine reported earlier this week.

Riki McManus, director of the Upper Midwest Film Office, said she has been in contact with Backstrom about the "Minnesota Trilogy" for the past few years. After hearing he had gotten his financing, she said she contacted him.

Sundstol's trilogy includes "The Land of Dreams," "Only the Dead" and "The Ravens," which were published by the University of Minnesota Press.
