Our Gang by Julia LeeAuthor Julia Lee grew up in Palms, California, very close to the once famed Hal Roach studios in Culver City, watching the decades-spanning comedy series Our Gang everyday after school. Her familiarity with the kids on the show and the show's curious history inspired Lee take an in depth look at the role that race played in the series, highlighting interracial friendships in a time when racism was at a national high in 1920's America. She tells the story in Our Gang: A Racial History of "The Little Rascals."
