Join author Jacqueline Briggs Martin and illustrator Claudia McGehee for an interactive reading and signing of their new children’s picture book, Creekfinding: A True Story, at 10am Saturday, April 1. The event will be held in the first floor gallery space in CSPS Hall.
Creekfinding is the heartwarming tale of an ecosystem restored in the Driftless Area of northeast Iowa. The story will charm and inform young readers who are drawn to a good mystery, the wonders of nature and, of course, big earth-moving machines. Children who attend the event may participate in art projects immediately following the reading. Trees Forever, a non-profit organization in Marion will offer additional fun and educational activities that morning.
This event is free and open to the public, and books will be available for purchase at Next Page Books before and after the reading. For more information, contact Next Page Books by calling 319.247.2665 or emailing email@example.com.
"Chronicling the true story of one man’s quest to revive a stream rumored to have run through the prairies of Iowa, Jacqueline Briggs Martin relates the trials and triumphs in Creekfinding, a return to nature that proves that ‘a creek isn’t just water.’" —Foreword Reviews
"The main narrative reads smoothly aloud, and the pictures, though detailed, should show well to a small group. Author's and illustrator's notes and a comment from the actual creek rescuer complete the package. A heartening story of environmental restoration." —Kirkus Reviews
