October 6 @ 7:00 pm – 8:30 pm CST
Larry Millett will celebrate the launch of his new book, Mysterious Tales of Old St. Paul: Three Cases Featuring Shadwell Rafferty, at 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 6, at St. City Catering.
This event is free and open to the public.
Mysterious Tales of Old St. Paul presents three novellas from Larry Millett, casting back to detective Shadwell Rafferty’s early years. A shake up at the Pioneer Press, a string of cat deaths escalating to murder, an enigmatic stranger arriving in town—these interlocking stories, all steeped in the mystery and history of nineteenth-century St. Paul, show Rafferty becoming the consummate detective whose exploits have delighted readers again and again.
“Violent, intriguing, mysterious, old St. Paul comes alive in Larry Millett’s stories as only a former street reporter could make it happen—a reporter with a taste for history, a flair for the literary, and an acute eye for human foibles. An intelligent and amusing collection.” —John Sandford, author of the Prey series
“Mysterious Tales of Old St. Paul captures the quirky charm of Minnesota’s capital city in the 1890s—with its crooked cops, robber barons, madams, and scandal-mongering journalists. Larry Millett’s colorful shamus Shadwell Rafferty rubs elbows with upper crust and hoi polloi alike as he investigates each exquisitely detailed case, with edge-of-the-seat suspense building to an explosive finale. Vastly entertaining!” —Erin Hart, author of Haunted Ground
