The James Ford Bell Library

A List of Additions, 1965-1969

Edited by John Parker and Carol L. Urness

The James Ford Bell Library: A List of Additions, 1965-1969 was first published in 1970. Minnesota Archive Editions uses digital technology to make long-unavailable books once again accessible, and are published unaltered from the original University of Minnesota Press editions.

This is a listing of the 891 books, manuscripts and other materials which were added to the James Ford Bell Library of the University of Minnesota from 1965 through 1969. The Bell Library is an endowed collection of rare items related to the history of European trade and expansion. Three earlier volumes similar to this one record the acquisitions from 1951 through 1964. The Lists of Additions are useful to librarians, research scholars, booksellers, and book and manuscript collectors.

John Parker was curator of the James Ford Bell Collection at the University of Minnesota. He is the author of Van Meteren’s Virginia: 1607-1612 (Minnesota, 1961) and editor of Merchants and Scholars: Essays in the History of Exploration and Trade (Minnesota, 1965).

Carol Urness is Professor Emerita of Library Collections at the James Ford Bell Library, University of Minnesota. She is the editor of A Naturalist in Russia: Letters from Peter Simon Pallas to Thomas Pennant (Minnesota, 1967).
