Jeffrey Mehlman is University Professor of French literature at Boston University. He is author of A Structural Study of Autobiography: Proust, Leiris, Sartre, Levi-Strauss; Revolution and Repetition: Marx/Hugo/Balzac; and Cataract: A Study of Diderot. He wrote Legacies while holding a Guggenheim Fellowship.
