Wesley W. Spink was Regents’ Professor of Medicine and Comparative Medicine, Emeritus, at the University of Minnesota. For many years he was director of the World Health Organization Brucellosis Research Center of the United States at the University of Minnesota. He served as a consultant for almost thirty years to the World Health Organization, to the U.S. Secretary of War during World War II, and to the Surgeon General, U.S. Air Force. He was president of the American College of Physicians and of the American Society for Clinical Investigation. Among his publications are the books Sulfanilamide and Related Compounds in General Practice and The Nature of Brucellosis (University of Minnesota Press), and, in addition, more than 400 scientific papers.
