Minnesota in Focus

“Here are Minnesota’s lakes and rivers, country roads and city towers. Here too is the rich mosaic of its citizens, from descendants of the original Americans harvesting wild rice, to a student demonstration at the University of Minnesota; from the state’s boyish governor smiling his good-life smile, to an elderly Norwegian-born fisherman working his nets on Lake Superior.”

Minneapolis Magazine

A book that is both beautiful and informative, providing a comprehensive view of Minnesota, the North Star state. In a wide-ranging collection of pictures with perceptive commentary by George Moses, the book portrays the state and its people in all seasons, in various moods, and in many modes of work and leisure. The photographs are by members of the staffs of the Minneapolis Star and the Minneapolis Tribune, many of whom have won prizes for the excellence of their work. Mr. Moses, a veteran Minnesota newsman, was chairman of the journalism department at Macalester College. The pictures are grouped in sections which illustrate the general contours of the state, its industrial aspects, and its cultural and recreational features.
