Joseph Warren Beach was a professor at the University of Minnesota. He is widely known for his books of literary criticism, among them, The Concept of Nature in Nineteenth-Century English Literature, The Twentieth-Century Novel, and American Fiction 1920-1940. His poems appear frequently in periodicals, and a collection of them has been published by the University of Minnesota Press in the volume, Beginning with Plato.
