Tuomo Polvinen is Professor Emeritus of History at the University of Helsinki and Finland’s leading diplomatic historian. He is the author of Suomi kansainvälisessä politiikassa (Finland in International Politics). Between East and West is a translation of the latter half of this work.
D.G. Kirby teaches Baltic history in the School of Slavonic Studies at University College, London and is author of Finland in the Twentieth Century (Minnesota, 1979).
