C. Otto Rosendahl was professor and chair of the botany department at the University of Minnesota. He is the author of Trees and Shrubs of the Upper Midwest (Minnesota, 1955), and numerous other scientific publications.

Frederic K. Butters was a professor of botany at the University of Minnesota. He is co-author (with C. Otto Rosendahl) of A Guide to the Spring Flowers of Minnesota (1936) published by the University of Minnesota Press.

Olga Lakela was a professor of biology at the State Teachers College, Duluth, Minnesota. She is the author of A Flora of Northeastern Minnesota (1965) published by the University of Minnesota Press.
