During his distinguished career as a psychologist, which has spanned four decades, Paul Meehl has steadily contributed to the philosophical literature with his probing and witty analyses. The unusual scope and imagination of his work are revealed in this collection as Meehl explores the mind-body problem, freedom and determinism, psychoanalytic explanation, theory appraisal, moral aspects of insanity and the law, and precognitive telepathy.

Meehl is cofounder of the Minnesota Center for Philosophy of Science with Herbert Feigl and Wilfrid Sellars. Included in this collection are several of their collaborative works.

Paul E. Meehl is Regents’ Professor Emeritus of psychology and Professor Emeritus of psychiatry and philosophy at the University of Minnesota. A member of the National Academy of Sciences and past president of the American Psychologist Association, he is the author of several books, including Clinical Versus Statistical Prediction and Psychodiagnosis: Selected Papers.
