Adorno's first major published work, which points the way to all of his subsequent writings.
"This brief book, perhaps the most accessible of Adorno's works available in English, contains the kernel of almost all the themes he developed in later writings. Kierkegaard is likely to be as controversial now as when it first appeared in Germany in the thirties: Adorno's interpretation of Kierkegaard is intriguing if not generally accepted, and some readers may not recognize Adorno's Kierkegaard as the Kierkegaard they thought they knew. " —Academic Library Book Review
This volume appeared in German bookshops in February 1933 and was Theodor Adorno's first major published work. Adorno (1903-1969) authored more than twenty volumes, including Aesthetic Theory, Negative Dialectics, Philosophy of Modern Music, Philosophy of New Music, and (with Max Horkheimer) Dialectic of Enlightenment.
Robert Hullot-Kentor is associate professor of humanities at Southhampton College. He has written widely on Adorno and has translated various of his works, including Aesthetic Theory and Philosophy of New Music.
